Essay On Global Warming

Global warming is considered by scientists as one of the most difficult challenge our environment faces today. As you have probably heard on your science class back in college or even in high school perhaps, global warming is caused by what we call as the green house effect.
What is the green house effect, then? Simply put, the green house effect is when the earth's heat trapping capability is increased far from normal levels. This increased heat trapping ability or increased temperature actually causes a lot of changes and problems on the surface of our planet. Climate change, devastating changes in the ecosystem, melting ices over the Arctic and Antarctic regions, negative impacts on the agricultural sector as well as in our forests are just some of the problems brought about by this green house effect and/or global warming to name a few.
A lot of damages have already been brought about by this phenomenon. And as the inhabitants of this planet, it is our duty and responsibility to repair the damaging effects of global warming. As the old adage goes, “There's no place like home.” And the Earth is our home. It is only right that we take significant steps to save and take care of this home. Our home.
Policies on global warming have already been made and are continuously made and improved each day. The question now is that, “Are these policies properly implemented and strictly enforced?” Just look around your surroundings, watch the news and you will see that the answer to this question is still a big NO. Yes, despite of the policies we have and the policies that are incessantly being made, the effects of global warming continue to ravage on our planet.
For most people, global warming is a broad-reaching problem, making the slide into this way of thinking that they can do nothing about it and those only seating in government or those people who have enough power and money are the ones who can only contribute to halting the dangers of global warming. That is absolutely wrong. Whoever you are, wherever you are in the world, whatever you are doing, you can do something about global warming. Male or female, black or white, young or old, rich or poor, it doesn't matter, what matters is that you acknowledge that global warming is a problem; a threat and you want to do something, anything about it.

My understanding of global warming is that the earth's temperature is gradually increasing year by year. What I mean is that the difference in overall temperature from one year to another is steadily rising. This rise in temperature is very slight but many people believe this small rise has been occurring for many years. People believe that humans are to blame for this effect because of the way we are treating our planet. However, many people will tell you that there has been no change to the trend in increase of temperature for many centuries so humans simply cannot be blamed for Global Warming. I do not intend to argue any views in the piece, simply state a few common viewpoints on the subject.

It is commonly believed that one of the effects of global warming, or indeed many believe the explanation of global warming itself, is the increase in freak weather conditions that we witness nowadays. Some people believe we are seeing the effects of global warming when we see earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, hotter weather conditions etc. while others believe that we are seeing global warming it self when we have a hotter summer than normal. Of course it depends on where in the globe you are situated but you may notice that weather conditions are more unpredictable than normal. You may be getting hotter summers than you normally do which people refer to as global warming because the weather is hotter pr you may be witnessing colder summers than normal due to the polar ice caps melting. Others however, will tell you that this is all just nature taking its course and is perfectly normal because we have not seen any major change in temperatures in recent times.
